Centrifugal Casting Ensures Our Polycast Shells Maintain Their Shape Year After Year
Sandusky Polycast® Shells are very stable and will maintain their natural shape and balance year after year. Because they are centrifugally cast, Sandusky Polycast shells offer a high degree of uniformity, no weld seam and equal metallurgical properties in all directions. Centrifugal casting using ASTM A27 Gr. N-1 mild carbon steel eliminates concern about residual manufacturing stresses and roll distortions that are indicative of others types of tubing.
Their excellent straightness, roundness and naturally uniform wall thickness greatly facilitates machining, roll finishing and balancing. Only minimal balance weights are typically needed. The wall variation is so slight that the shells frequently require no boring. Most are supplied as-cast, but can be machined by Sandusky to your specifications. With our large custom built machines we can turn and bore all shells we produce.
