Shaft sleeves are used to provide sacrificial wear surfaces on expensive rotating parts. These components require high alloy strength, wear resistance, and cylindrical shaping integrity. In marine applications, shaft sleeves for propellers can often be very large cast parts, typically centrifugally cast. MetalTek has the capabilities to meet each of those requirements.
Contractors designing and producing marine systems and components, including propeller shaft sleeves used in submarines and warships, require a casting manufacturer that has a history of working with complex alloys. MetalTek has the experience and metallurgical knowledge to provide guidance on which alloy or composite material will provide a long-lasting, high performance component. Many of our facilities are Nadcap certified and we were the first centrifugal casting facility in the U.S. to become ISO certified.
