Process Equipment Market

From one-off special products for nuclear or offshore applications to limited production runs of specialty castings for Food Processors or Hydro Electric plants, MetalTek supplies high-integrity components worldwide.

We cast components in a broad range of materials, including many proprietary alloys. Our expertise in duplex, superduplex, and nickel aluminum bronze alloys has led to a worldwide reputation for performance in highly corrosive applications. Couple this with our ability to manage projects to completion, and you have MetalTek International, a unique answer in the Process Equipment industry.

The MetalTek Team provides the technical, manufacturing and sales know how to meet your needs:

Solution—Meat processing
One of the most demanding food processing challenges is the production of ground meat. That process requires that meat be forced through a network of small holes in the walls of a cylinder. The holes are spaced very close together and the pressure on the cylinder wall is considerable. Forgings used in this type application commonly exhibit failure by cracking due to the uni-directional grain structure characteristic of forgings. Because of its multi-directional grain structure, a centrifugal casting resists crack initiation and propagation, and dramatically increases the life of the component in this application.

Solution—Emergency production and delivery
During a routine nuclear plant maintenance shutdown in Japan, it was discovered that a nuclear valve liner needed replacement. Lead time for delivery was relatively long because there were unusual outside assembly and machining operations specified. Through daily management and expedited casting and processing, MetalTek was able to reduce leadtime by 80% and provide the product in time for the plant to come back on line.

Solution— Food processing tools
The USDA requires corrosion resistant material for all alloys that come in contact with food. Commonly, a complex fabrication of tube and plate stock is used to create intricate shapes such as heads, grinders, and knife assemblies. Since surface finish requirements are stringent so that processed food does not become lodged in small crevices, tedious and costly weld grinding operations are needed. MetalTek has provided complex one-piece investment and sand castings to replace fabricated parts, eliminate welds, and dramatically reduce costs.
