The MetalTek Advantage

The combination of extensive sand casting experience, rigorous product and process control systems, a broad range of alloys and sizes poured, particularly large sizes, and comprehensive non – destructive evaluation capability combine to define MetalTek as a world leader in the supply of sand castings.

We are committed to technical advancement in the development of new alloys, including heat resistant alloys for difficult environments. We leverage our manufacturing expertise in new proprietary and hybrid process targeted at giving you the best product at a price that represents value.

Our engineers work concurrently with those of our customers to devise high performance products that are manufacturable, and cost effective.

Sand Castings

Customers rely on MetalTek for our expertise in devising large complex patterns. Metal is poured to create castings up to 15,000 pounds finished weight. Risers and gating will be removed from the rough casting to move toward a finished part.

Stainless Steel Sand CastingsStainless Steel Sand Casting Manufacturing Process

In Sand Casting, (A) a pattern of the desired finished part, including the (B) metal delivery system is constructed out of hardwood, urethane, metal or foam. Sand, containing bonding material to retain the shape, is (C) packed around the pattern. The pattern is removed from the bonded sand leaving a void in the shape of the part. Molten metal is (D) poured into the void to assume the desired shape. After the metal solidifies, the sand is removed through a shakeout process (E) leaving only the metal, and (F) the part is trimmed to remove extra metal.
