When a defense customer changed to non-asbestos linings for a brake application, increased wear in mating parts became a problem. To solve that problem, MetalTek worked with the customer to develop a Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) material for the mating parts. Cast components using the MMC material reduced operating cost by 90%.
