Alloy Grade UNS: ALLOY 230 – Extreme Heat

  • Overview

Alloy 230, also known as Haynes 230 or UNS N06230 in wrought form, is a high-performance nickel-chromium-tungsten-molybdenum superalloy recognized for its exceptional properties in extreme heat and corrosive environments. With up to 24% chromium and 15% tungsten, it offers excellent high-temperature strength, superior oxidation resistance, and thermal stability, maintaining integrity at temperatures up to 2100°F (1150°C). A key advantage of Alloy 230 is its excellent fabricability; it can be cold- and hot-worked easily and is suitable for traditional casting methods. Its good ductility allows for easy forming and welding using various techniques. Additionally, Alloy 230 features lower thermal expansion than other high-temperature alloys, making it ideal for applications requiring dimensional stability under extreme conditions.
