Food Processing
High alloys, fine surface finish, and intricate shaping for food processing applications
Whether it is corrosion-resistant centrifuges that help turn acidic fruit into concentrate or high-strength components for meat production, MetalTek has the capabilities and technical expertise to meet the continually evolving demands of the food processing industry.
Centrifugally-cast briquetting rolls from MetalTek are ideal for food production because their multi-directional grain structure is highly resistant to both crack initiation and propagation, resulting in increased service life. MetalTek’s Wisconsin Investcast Division converted a complex meat grinding fabrication into a single large stainless-steel investment casting featuring nine spiraling flutes across its entire length and as-cast surfaces satisfying USDA requirements. The customer realized lower labor costs and improved product consistency. Sigma blades developed by Carondelet combined the benefits of sand casting with a proprietary alloy to help one customer realize a significant increase in mixer machine pass rates and a reduction in machining costs.
For these applications and more, food processing equipment companies rely on MetalTek’s technical expertise, depth of experience, and range of available alloys to make their products stand up to high wear and perform better with longer life.
